Maruti Suzuki Dzire is India’s best selling sedan, which is available in both petrol and CNG variants. The 2025 Dzire has also achieved a 5-star safety rating from Global NCAP, which makes it even more special. But in a shocking development, the new Dzire has started appearing as a taxi, which is going against Maruti Suzuki’s policy. Is this a violation of company policy? Come, let’s know the story behind this.
What was the policy of 2025 Maruti Suzuki Dzire?
Maruti Suzuki has always had a strict policy—the new Dzire will be for private buyers only, and taxi operators will only be able to purchase the Tour S variant of the old model. This is so that the company can keep the private owners and fleet segment separate so that the premium price of the sedan is maintained.
But a recent YouTube video has raised questions on this policy of Maruti Suzuki.
Caught on Camera: 2025 Dzire as a Taxi!
A popular YouTube channel Raftaar 7811 uploaded a video in which the new 2025 Dzire was seen running as a taxi on the roads of Rajasthan. The yellow number plates were confirming that the sedan has been registered as a commercial vehicle.
But how is this possible?
This can happen in two ways:
- Private Purchase, then Commercial Conversion
A buyer may have purchased the new Dzire as a private car and later got commercial registration done from the RTO.
If the RTO gives permission, any private car can be converted for commercial use.
- Dealer-Level Policy Breach
It is possible that a dealership may have violated company policy and sold the new Dzire to a taxi operator.
If this is the case, Maruti Suzuki can take action against the dealership.
What could be Maruti Suzuki’s reaction?
If this is an isolated case, the company may ignore it. But if more cases come up, Maruti Suzuki can take strict action:
✅ Dealerships will be inquired.
✅ RTO will be asked for clarification.
✅ More strict rules can be imposed on taxi conversion.
What does this mean for new Dzire owners?
Private buyers who were expecting exclusivity may be disappointed.
Dzire’s resale value and brand image can be impacted if this taxi becomes common in the market.
Final Verdict: Will we get to see the new Dzire as a taxi?
As of now, this seems to be an exceptional case, but if more new Dzire taxis start appearing, then Maruti Suzuki will have to revise its policy.
